Paulsen took home two ADDYs at the annual South Dakota American Advertising Award ceremony, held February 23, 2018, in Sioux Falls, S.D.

“We wanted to support our employees who are doing fantastic work,” says Mark Smither, vice president, strategic director.

Paulsen entered two projects, both of which were videos produced by Derek Baune, lead content developer. Both entries were winners.

In the Advertising Industry Self-Promotion (Film, Video & Sound) category, Paulsen received a Gold ADDY for “Lessons from the River Bottom” for Migrate Outdoor. The video chronicles Baune’s experiences turkey hunting with his brother in southwestern Minnesota.

“Derek really captured the beauty of turkey hunting and what it means to him personally in that video,” Smither adds.

In the Branded Content & Entertainment for Online Film, Video & Sound (more than 60 seconds) category, Paulsen received a Silver ADDY on behalf of the Pheasants Forever, Inc., Bird Dogs for Habitat fundraising campaign. Paulsen developed broadcast and social media to promote the annual campaign, which raised nearly $40,000 for wildlife habitat projects. Over four weeks, the fundraising effort generated more than one million online impressions and 8,887 individual contributions.

“More often than not, award-winning work leads to better results for our clients,” Smither says. “Creativity in business needs to be encouraged and acknowledged.”

The two projects will compete at the district level for American Advertising Federation (AAF) Region 8 on March 23-24. The results will be announced April 13.
