Generative AI Ethical and Appropriate Use Policy
This policy outlines the ethical and appropriate use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies at Paulsen. Our commitment is to leverage Generative AI responsibly, promoting innovation while ensuring compliance with ethical standards, legal requirements, and our company values. This policy applies to all employees, contractors, and partners of Paulsen who interact with Generative AI technologies in their work.
Ethical Principles:
We adhere to the following ethical principles in our use of Generative AI:
- Transparency: Be clear about the use of Generative AI and avoid misleading stakeholders about the nature of AI-generated content.
- Fairness: Use Generative AI without bias, ensuring it does not perpetuate discrimination against any individual or group.
- Accountability: Maintain accountability for decisions made with the assistance of Generative AI, including providing mechanisms for human oversight.
- Respect for Privacy: Ensure that the use of Generative AI respects the privacy and data protection rights of individuals.
- Security: Protect systems using Generative AI from unauthorized access and ensure the integrity of AI-generated content. Protect all sensitive information and Intellectual Property that belongs to our clients by preventing it from being added to public Large Language Models.
Appropriate Use:
Generative AI must be used in a manner consistent with the following guidelines:
- Research: Generative AI can be used for research purposes, but must be carefully reviewed for accuracy. Distilling information using Generative AI is an acceptable use, but we protect the privacy and integrity of all of our data and our Clients' data.
- Idea Generation: Much like using Generative AI for research, it can be used to generate ideas, especially for content topics.
- Analytics and Analysis: Provided it is secure, data can be uploaded and analyzed.
- Images and Video: From For Position Only (FPO) images to final artwork, we are transparent about using Generative AI at Paulsen and disclose all uses when requested.
- Audio: Appropriate use is to be determined, but we will protect the privacy of our clients and staff.
- Compliance with Laws: Adhere to all applicable laws and regulations regarding data privacy, intellectual property, and other relevant domains.
- Content Creation: Use Generative AI to create legal, ethical, and non-deceptive content. Avoid using AI to create false or misleading information. Disclose all uses of Generative AI.
Unacceptable Use of Generative AI:
- Unlawful Activities: Do not use Generative AI for illegal activities, including but not limited to fraud, defamation, or theft of intellectual property.
- Harmful Content: Do not use Generative AI to create content that is offensive, harassing, threatening, or otherwise harmful.
- Impersonation: Avoid using Generative AI to impersonate individuals or entities or to misrepresent affiliation with any individual or entity.
- Privacy and Intellectual Property: Do not upload any information into an LLM that Paulsen does not hold the exclusive rights to, unless that information is already in the public domain. Do not upload any client information that the client has declared or could deem confidential.
NOTE: Paulsen reserves the right to update this policy when needed and without notice in an effort to maintain and grow a vibrant, future-forward agency.
