Macy Masteller Expresses Gratitude In New Role As Digital Media Specialist
When Digital Media Specialist Macy Masteller began her new role at Paulsen in October, she immediately felt a real sense of belonging. "I'm grateful to be here and be in such a collaborative, welcoming environment with a lot of people who are so passionate about the rural focus," she says.
Macy grew up on a row crop and hog farm near Selby, South Dakota, roughly 80 miles west of Aberdeen. Her family still farms that ground today, although they have since shifted away from swine and raise pheasants instead.
"I was excited to work in the ag space," she says of her decision to leave her role with Sanford Health to join the team at Paulsen. "It's a great opportunity to use my passion for marketing in conjunction with an appreciation for my roots."
The South Dakota State University alumna earned a Bachelor of Arts in Advertising along with minors in Marketing and Studio Arts. She worked for a digital marketing agency based in Des Moines after graduation before landing a role with Keloland and, eventually, with Sanford Health.
"Macy's diverse experience — in agency, media, and in-house settings — contributes toward a well-rounded perspective that will serve her well on our media team," says Paulsen President & CEO Marcus Squier. "We're also impressed with her passion for agriculture and our shared commitment to moving rural America."
For her part, Macy is excited to work alongside a supportive team as she settles into her digital media role. "Everybody is very hands-on and willing to jump in," she says. "The whole team is very driven."
That drive aligns well with Macy's own personal framework. "I'm a very task-oriented person, both in my personal and professional life," she explains. "I can't survive without my planner. It helps me stay organized."
Macy is an extremely active individual, having grown up pursuing a variety of outdoor adventures in and around Selby. As an adult, she has competed in triathlons and is currently training to run a marathon in February. "I live two lives," she jokes. "Half of me is this ball of energy that needs to stay active, the other half needs creative outlets." To satisfy that inner need, Macy enjoys reading, painting, drawing, and baking.
