Founded in 1951, this year marks the 60th anniversary at Paulsen Marketing. To commemorate its longevity, employees and family members were treated to an "ag interactive" company picnic. Along with great food and inflatables for the kids, brave employees competed in an authentic farm relay race including corn shucking and egg gathering. President Greg Guse delivered a few brief remarks about the 60-year milestone as part of the gathering.

“In preparing my comments, I realized what a daunting task I had before me,” commented Guse. “How in the world do you adequately address 60 years of growth, progress, wins, losses, accomplishments and disappointments in the topsy-turvy advertising agency world in just six minutes?”

When considering all that has transpired at Paulsen in over six decades and the drastic changes taking place in the marketing communications industry, especially during the past 10-15 years, it was not an easy undertaking. President Guse simplified the message by answering the question “How does a business in our industry survive—and thrive—for 60 years under the same ownership, management and name?” His answer included:

First, you need a solid foundation based on sound principles such as honesty, integrity and doing the “right thing” for both clients and employees. Maurice Paulsen, our founder, built this agency on those principles.

Second, you must build relationships with clients based on mutual trust and respect. For all the disruptive changes we’ve had to respond and adapt to, one thing still stands clear: relationships are everything.

And finally, without bright, talented, loyal and committed employees, you have nothing in this business. I continue to marvel at the talent and work ethic of the folks we have as employees here at Paulsen Marketing.

The answer to 60 years of stability and success can be condensed in this statement:
A strong foundation built on time-honored principles, lasting client relationships and employees committed to excellence in all they do—including farm relay races!

Here’s to another great 60 years!
